In a significant move aimed at strengthening citizen engagement and promoting national development, the leadership of the National Advancement Movement (NAM), led by its Convener and National Coordinator, Princess Barbara A. Odoh, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, at the TSG National Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
The high-level engagement brought together key national, zonal, and state officers of NAM and served as an important platform for discussing strategies to enhance public awareness of government initiatives while encouraging active citizen participation in nation-building.
During the meeting, Princess Barbara Odoh presented the vision and operational blueprint of the National Advancement Movement, describing the organization as a platform dedicated to promoting responsible citizenship, ethical leadership, accountable governance, and evidence-based public engagement.

She explained that NAM was established to serve as a catalyst for national advancement by creating avenues through which Nigerians can better understand public policies, contribute constructively to national discourse, and participate meaningfully in the country’s development process.
According to her, the movement seeks to complement ongoing efforts to communicate the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda while fostering a culture of civic responsibility and national consciousness among citizens.
“Our goal is to build a society where informed citizens actively participate in governance, support policies that advance the national interest, and contribute positively to the growth and development of Nigeria,” she noted.

Princess Barbara further highlighted NAM’s commitment to research, advocacy, civic education, leadership development, and value re-orientation, emphasizing that sustainable national progress can only be achieved when citizens and institutions work together toward common goals.
Responding, the Director General of the Tinubu Support Group, Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the leadership of NAM for its vision and dedication to promoting responsible leadership and constructive civic engagement.
He acknowledged the importance of organizations that help bridge the gap between government and citizens through effective communication, advocacy, and public enlightenment.
Dr. Yakasai noted that the Tinubu Support Group was founded on the principle of supporting responsible leadership and ensuring that the successes, reforms, and developmental initiatives of the Renewed Hope Agenda are effectively communicated to Nigerians across all sectors of society.
He expressed confidence that collaborations between like-minded organizations would contribute significantly to strengthening public trust, deepening democratic participation, and promoting national development.

The visit also provided an opportunity for both organizations to explore areas of mutual interest and discuss possible partnerships that could enhance civic awareness, leadership development, and citizen participation in governance.
At the heart of the National Advancement Movement is a bold vision: to build a Nigeria where responsible citizens, accountable leadership, and evidence-based public engagement drive sustainable national advancement.
Guided by this vision, the Movement’s mission is to mobilize Nigerians across all sectors toward responsible citizenship, ethical leadership, accountable governance, research, advocacy, civic education, leadership development, and constructive national engagement.

Its objectives include promoting national consciousness, encouraging integrity and accountability, supporting policies that advance the national interest, conducting objective research, fostering national unity, strengthening civic education, encouraging constructive engagement between citizens and public institutions, and building strategic partnerships that contribute to Nigeria’s sustainable development.
As Nigeria continues its journey toward greater economic growth, social cohesion, and democratic consolidation, initiatives such as the National Advancement Movement underscore the critical role of citizens, institutions, and civil society organizations in shaping a more prosperous and united nation.
The Abuja meeting between NAM and TSG therefore represents more than a courtesy visit—it signals a shared commitment to fostering informed citizenship, strengthening public engagement, promoting the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and advancing a collective vision for a stronger, more progressive Nigeria
