The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity, and Justice has watched with utter dismay the recent deliberate, malicious, and unfounded allegations peddled by a social media commentator, Martins Vincent Otse (aka VeryDarkMan), against the person and office of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Jimoh Moshood.

As a Coalition dedicated to the promotion of justice, institutional integrity, and the rule of law, we find it imperative to intervene and set the records straight before the public is misled by cheap, clout-chasing antics designed to undermine the hard work of dedicated public servants.

It has become a disturbing trend for internet personalities to weaponize their platforms to intimidate, harass, and defame respected officers of the law under the guise of “activism.” Let us be clear: True activism relies on verifiable facts, due process, and the courts of law, not on TikTok videos, unverified gossip, and attempts to blackmail senior security personnel.

The allegations of corruption leveled against AIG Jimoh are not only baseless, but they are clearly the handiwork of criminal elements who are feeling the heat of the AIG’s relentless crackdown on illicit activities. When you fight crime, crime fights back—often using willing tools on social media to create a distraction.
AIG Jimoh is a highly decorated officer whose track record speaks volumes. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated unyielding commitment to the safety of Nigerians, often putting his life on the line to dismantle criminal syndicates. He has maintained the highest standards of professional conduct and has been instrumental in reforming operational strategies within the Force.

To attempt to tarnish decades of meritorious service with uncorroborated internet rumors is an insult to the entire Nigeria Police Force and to the intelligence of right-thinking Nigerians.
The Coalition hereby passes an absolute and unequivocal *Vote of Confidence* in AIG Jimoh. We stand by him and urge him not to be distracted by the noise of online detractors.
We call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to completely disregard these sponsored media attacks. Furthermore, we urge the relevant authorities, including the Cybercrime unit, to hold individuals accountable when they use digital platforms to incite the public against security agencies through defamation.
We advise VDM and his sponsors to desist from this campaign of calumny. The era of using social media as a tool for cheap blackmail against upright officers is over.

The Coalition will continue to monitor this situation closely and will not hesitate to take necessary legal and civic actions against anyone attempting to destabilize our security institutions through fake news.
