FRSC Intelligence-Led Operation Recovers Stolen Vehicle in Edo, Corps Marshal Applauds Vigilant Patrol Team

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has once again demonstrated its growing role in national security and crime prevention with the successful recovery of a stolen vehicle through an intelligence-driven patrol operation in Edo State.
The breakthrough, which occurred on Sunday, June 14, 2026, was achieved by personnel of the RS5.13 Iruekpen Unit Command following a distress alert concerning a gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 987 CM. The vehicle had reportedly been stolen from a church premises in Benin City earlier in the day.
Acting swiftly on the information received, the patrol team activated its intelligence and surveillance network, strategically monitoring traffic along key routes within its operational corridor. Through coordinated patrol efforts, vigilance, and professionalism, the vehicle was eventually traced, intercepted, and recovered.
The individual found in possession of the vehicle claimed to be a delivery agent. However, preliminary investigations raised suspicions, leading to his immediate arrest. He was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation, while the recovered vehicle was secured pending identification and return to its rightful owner.
Commending the officers for their prompt and effective response, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, described the operation as another testament to the Corps’ commitment to public safety and national security. He noted that the successful recovery highlights the increasingly important role FRSC patrol teams play beyond their traditional mandate of traffic management and road safety enforcement.
According to the Corps Marshal, intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, and continuous surveillance have become critical components of modern road patrol operations, enabling FRSC personnel to contribute meaningfully to crime detection, stolen vehicle recovery, emergency response, and the apprehension of criminal suspects.
He further emphasized that the Corps remains committed to supporting national security objectives by maintaining a strong presence on the nation’s highways and strengthening partnerships with other security agencies.
The latest recovery adds to a growing list of successes recorded by FRSC patrol teams across the country, reinforcing public confidence in the Corps’ ability to safeguard lives and property while ensuring safer road transportation.
The Corps Marshal also urged motorists and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies through FRSC communication channels, stressing that timely information remains vital in combating crime and enhancing public safety.
