The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded another significant milestone in its quest to institutionalise road safety governance across Nigeria, as the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, FCA, formally invested the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as Patron of the FRSC Special Marshals in Kogi State.

The colourful investiture ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lokoja, highlighted the growing partnership between the FRSC and the Kogi State Government in advancing road safety, strengthening traffic management and protecting lives on one of Nigeria’s busiest transportation corridors.
In a remarkable demonstration of his administration’s commitment to safer roads, Governor Ododo donated ten electric patrol motorcycles to the FRSC to enhance traffic control, strengthen enforcement operations and improve rapid response to emergencies across Kogi State. The donation represents a major boost to the Corps’ operational capacity and underscores the Governor’s dedication to promoting a safer and more efficient road transport system.

Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the Corps, the Corps Marshal described the gesture as a strategic investment in road safety and operational excellence. He noted that the electric patrol bikes would significantly improve the Corps’ ability to respond swiftly to traffic incidents, carry out effective patrols and deliver on its mandate of safeguarding lives and property on the nation’s highways.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Ododo dedicated the honour of his investiture to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He attributed the recognition to the President’s visionary leadership, unwavering support for the FRSC and commitment to strengthening institutions charged with protecting the lives of Nigerians.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting initiatives that promote road safety, responsible road use and effective emergency response mechanisms across the state.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal commended Governor Ododo for accepting the responsibility of serving as Patron of the FRSC Special Marshals in Kogi State and for complementing the Corps’ efforts through the donation of the electric patrol motorcycles. He described the Governor’s actions as a shining example of purposeful leadership and strategic collaboration in the pursuit of safer roads.
The investiture and donation further reinforce the strong partnership between the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Kogi State Government, reflecting a shared commitment to reducing road crashes, enhancing operational efficiency and fostering a culture of safety among road users.
