Across Nigeria’s towns, villages, cities, and communities, a quiet revolution is unfolding. It is not driven by political slogans or fleeting moments of enthusiasm, but by the collective strength, resilience, and determination of Nigerian women. From the bustling markets of Lagos to the rural communities of Borno, from the creeks of the Niger Delta to the savannahs of the North, a powerful movement is emerging—one that seeks to transform lives, strengthen communities, and redefine the role of women in national development.

This is the story of the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally, a bold and unprecedented initiative built on a simple but powerful vision: One Voice. One Movement. One Choice.

The movement was conceived under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, fsi, and was formally launched on May 5, 2026, by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Mother of the Nation.

The launch represented far more than the unveiling of a programme. It marked the beginning of a nationwide social and economic movement designed to place women at the center of Nigeria’s development agenda. It was a declaration that the empowerment of women is not merely a social objective but a national imperative.

The gathering brought together an extraordinary coalition of women from every corner of the country. Delegates attended from the national, zonal, state, local government, and ward levels. Women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, market women, young women, women living with disabilities, traditional leaders, civil society actors, development partners, and members of the media stood together in solidarity.

Their presence underscored a fundamental truth: this movement belongs to every Nigerian woman.

What distinguishes the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally from previous initiatives is its deliberate grassroots architecture. Rather than operating solely from the top down, the movement is built from the community upward, ensuring that every woman has a voice and a place within its framework.

At the heart of the programme lies the innovative 1,200-per-Ward Model, a strategic grassroots mobilization framework designed to reach every part of the federation. Under this model, women are organized into clusters of fifty, each coordinated by trained ward-level leaders. Twenty-four coordinators oversee activities in every ward, creating a network of engagement, accountability, mentorship, and sustained participation.

With Nigeria’s more than 8,809 electoral wards serving as the foundation of the initiative, the model creates an organized structure capable of mobilizing millions of women while maintaining direct community-level impact.

The movement recognizes that sustainable change requires collaboration across all levels of governance. Consequently, state and zonal structures have been established to coordinate implementation and ensure alignment with local realities.

A particularly significant role is reserved for State First Ladies, whose influence, visibility, and grassroots connections make them critical partners in driving the initiative forward. As champions of social development within their respective states, they provide the leadership needed to deepen community engagement, strengthen advocacy efforts, and sustain momentum.

Their participation elevates the movement beyond policy into practical action, helping to ensure that no woman, regardless of location or circumstance, is excluded from the opportunities being created.

Beyond mobilization, the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally delivers a tangible economic intervention that directly addresses one of the most pressing challenges facing women across Nigeria: access to economic opportunities.

Through the ₦10 Million Women Empowerment Intervention for every ward, the programme seeks to stimulate local economies by supporting women-led enterprises, strengthening livelihoods, promoting entrepreneurship, and expanding micro and small businesses.

This investment is expected to generate measurable outcomes at household and community levels, empowering women not only as beneficiaries but as economic drivers, job creators, and contributors to national prosperity.

For many women, the initiative represents more than financial support. It offers access to networks, leadership opportunities, training, mentorship, and a platform to participate more effectively in shaping the future of their communities.

The strategic ambition of the movement is both bold and measurable: to organize, mobilize, and verify at least 1,200 women voters in each ward across Nigeria.

When aggregated nationally, this translates into a disciplined and coordinated bloc of more than 10.5 million women united by shared aspirations and a common commitment to national progress.

This is the essence of the Power of 10 Million—a transformational force built on organization, inclusion, empowerment, and civic participation.

It is a recognition that women constitute one of the nation’s greatest assets and that when empowered, organized, and mobilized, they possess the capacity to accelerate social transformation, drive economic growth, strengthen democratic participation, and promote national cohesion.

The movement aligns seamlessly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly its focus on inclusion, economic empowerment, social investment, and shared prosperity.

More importantly, it reflects a growing national consensus that the future of Nigeria cannot be separated from the advancement of its women.

As the movement expands across wards, local governments, states, and geopolitical zones, it carries with it a powerful message: meaningful national development begins when women are empowered to lead, participate, and prosper.

The National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally is therefore not merely an event. It is not a campaign. It is not a moment in time.

It is a movement.

A movement born in the grassroots.

A movement strengthened by communities.

A movement championed by leaders.

A movement powered by more than 10 million Nigerian women.

And as these voices rise together across the nation, they carry the promise of a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous Nigeria.

One Voice. One Movement. One Choice.

The Power of 10 Million.
