The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice has congratulated Chief Amos Dunia on his appointment as Special Adviser on Media to Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State and Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 General Election.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo, the coalition described the appointment as a recognition of Dunia’s extensive experience in journalism, public affairs and strategic communication.

Dunia, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, and publisher of a news magazine, has built a career spanning media leadership, journalism and public communication.

The coalition said his professional background and experience in the media make his appointment significant, particularly at a time when effective communication and public engagement are central to political campaigns and governance.

Describing the appointment as “a square peg in a square hole,” the group said Dunia’s experience in media leadership and his contribution to journalism would be valuable in his new role.

The coalition also commended Governor Makinde for what it described as an emphasis on professional capacity and experience in making the appointment.

It expressed confidence that Dunia would bring his media network, professional experience and knowledge of public affairs to bear in communicating the governor’s policies, programmes and political message.

The coalition further congratulated Chief Amos Dunia on the appointment and wished him success in his new assignment.
