The spirit of community, culture and women’s empowerment came alive at Isu-Awaa in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State as the women of the community celebrated their annual Women’s August Meeting, with the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Sir Martin Chukwunweike, joining them in solidarity.
The APC State Chairman, who is a native of Isu-Awaa, used the occasion to celebrate the women for their enduring contributions to family development, community growth and nation building.
Chukwunweike described women as indispensable pillars of peace, progress and social development, noting that their influence extends from the home to the wider community and society.
He commended the women for their dedication to the church, their families and community development, urging them to remain united and committed to initiatives that promote peace, moral values and sustainable development.
As part of his support for the annual gathering, the APC chairman presented cash gifts to the women, describing the gesture as a token of appreciation for their sacrifices, resilience and continued contributions to the growth of the community.
He also called on the women to continue praying for the peace and prosperity of Enugu State, while encouraging them to sustain their important role in nurturing morally upright children and promoting values that will strengthen society.
Responding, the women expressed appreciation to Dr. Sir Martin Chukwunweike for identifying with them and supporting their annual celebration.
They also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his administration’s support and commitment to the people, particularly women and grassroots communities.
The women offered prayers for the success of Governor Mbah and Dr. Chukwunweike as they continue to provide leadership in Enugu State and the APC in the state respectively.
The celebration further underscored the enduring importance of the August Meeting tradition as a platform for women to reconnect, celebrate their collective achievements, strengthen community bonds and contribute to the development of their communities.
