The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has challenged members of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council to take the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to Nigerians and build widespread support for his re-election in 2027.
Yilwatda gave the charge during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, stressing that the party’s electoral prospects would depend on its ability to communicate government policies effectively, demonstrate measurable progress and address citizens’ concerns.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman emphasised the need for unity, strategic coordination and sustained engagement with Nigerians across the country.
He urged campaign officials to base their activities on the administration’s record, an honest assessment of existing challenges and a credible vision for Nigeria’s future.
According to him, the campaign must clearly explain the administration’s economic reforms and investments in critical sectors, including roads, power, gas, railways, ports, agriculture and digital connectivity.
He noted that Nigerians must understand how these policies and investments are expected to improve productivity, create employment opportunities, stimulate commerce and accelerate national development.
“Our responsibility is to explain what has been achieved, what is progressing and what remains to be done. We must demonstrate how these reforms and investments will translate into practical improvements in the lives of Nigerians,” Yilwatda said.
GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION KEY TO VICTORY
The APC national chairman underscored the importance of a coordinated campaign structure linking national leaders, state governors, legislators, state chapters, local government officials and ward-level members.
He maintained that effective collaboration across the party’s structures would ensure that its message reaches communities throughout the country.
Yilwatda also called for greater participation by women, youths and persons with disabilities, describing their involvement as essential to effective mobilisation and inclusive democratic engagement.
He recognised women as indispensable to party organisation and community mobilisation, while urging the party to engage young people as active partners in shaping Nigeria’s future.
He further stressed that persons with disabilities must have full, accessible and meaningful opportunities to participate in the democratic process.
COST OF LIVING, INSECURITY IN CAMPAIGN FOCUS
Acknowledging the challenges confronting Nigerians, Yilwatda urged the campaign council to address public concerns over the rising cost of living, insecurity, unemployment, education, healthcare, agricultural productivity and access to economic opportunities.
He stressed that the party must not rely solely on political rhetoric but should present evidence of progress, explain government policies and identify areas requiring further intervention.
The APC chairman also warned party members against complacency, insisting that confidence must be matched with preparation, discipline and sustained engagement with the electorate.
“Confidence is not complacency. It is the determination to prepare thoroughly, work together and earn the trust of the people,” he said.
He added that the party would seek a renewed mandate for President Tinubu by communicating its achievements, defending its record with facts and presenting its plans for the country’s future.
YILWATDA ADVOCATES ISSUE-BASED CAMPAIGN
In a call for peaceful political engagement, Yilwatda advocated an issue-based campaign that respects democratic principles and acknowledges the legitimate role of opposition parties.
He maintained that the APC must present its case confidently while allowing Nigerians to make their choices through a credible democratic process.
“The APC will present its case with confidence, defend its record with facts and trust Nigerians to make their choice through a credible democratic process,” he said.
The APC chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s National Working Committee to working closely with the Presidential Campaign Council and other party structures to achieve their shared objectives.
He charged members to remain united, disciplined and focused on communicating the party’s vision as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election.
“One mission, one responsibility: to work together, communicate effectively and earn the mandate of Nigerians for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027,” Yilwatda declared.
