The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have sealed a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening professionalism, enhancing workforce capacity and advancing institutional excellence in Nigeria’s public service.

The landmark collaboration emerged during a courtesy visit by the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, who led a high-powered delegation to the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja, where they were received by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni.

The visit underscored a shared commitment to promoting leadership development, strategic communication and continuous professional education as essential drivers of efficient public service delivery.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Neliaku praised the Corps Marshal for the remarkable transformation witnessed within the FRSC, particularly the successful digitisation of the Corps’ operations, which he described as a model of visionary leadership, innovation and institutional reform.

According to him, the technological and administrative improvements introduced under the current leadership have significantly enhanced operational efficiency, improved service delivery and strengthened public confidence in the Corps.

He noted that the FRSC’s transformation aligns with global best practices in public sector management and reflects the growing importance of innovation in delivering responsive governance.

Dr. Neliaku reaffirmed the Institute’s readiness to partner with the FRSC in key areas, including executive education, professional certification, strategic communication, leadership development and specialised capacity-building programmes designed to equip officers with modern skills required in today’s dynamic public service environment.

Responding, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed expressed appreciation to the NIPR leadership for recognising the Corps’ ongoing reforms and for extending a hand of collaboration.

He emphasised that professionalism, continuous learning, innovation and effective communication remain central to his administration’s vision of building a modern, technology-driven and globally respected road safety institution.

The Corps Marshal described the proposed collaboration as a strategic investment in human capital, stressing that continuous professional development is indispensable for improving organisational performance and preparing personnel to meet emerging road safety and public service challenges.

He further noted that strengthening staff competence through structured learning and internationally recognised professional standards would reinforce the Corps’ commitment to excellence, accountability and quality service delivery.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both organisations agreed to establish a structured framework for sustained collaboration, focusing on staff training, executive development, professional certification, knowledge exchange, research and other mutually beneficial initiatives aimed at institutional growth.

Observers say the partnership marks another significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the Federal Road Safety Corps under the leadership of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, whose administration has consistently prioritised digital innovation, workforce development and organisational excellence.

The collaboration is also expected to strengthen public trust, improve service delivery and reinforce professionalism as the cornerstone of effective governance and national development.

Did you know? Studies consistently show that organisations that invest in continuous professional development often achieve better innovation, stronger public trust and higher service quality than those that do not.
