Ngozi Oyewole Commends Women Affairs Minister, Unveils Cooperative Society for Women Entrepreneurs

The Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda (BWI-RHA) has thrown its weight behind the Federal Government’s National E-Mobility Programme for Nigerian Women, describing the initiative as a bold step towards strengthening women’s economic empowerment and creating new opportunities for female entrepreneurs.

BWI-RHA was represented at the flag-off ceremony of the programme by its Director of Media and Communications, Ms. Evelyn Onyilo, who represented the organisation’s Director-General, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole.

The National E-Mobility Programme, a collaborative initiative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and the private sector, is designed to enable women to own electric vehicles and generate additional sources of income, while promoting sustainable transportation and inclusive participation in Nigeria’s emerging e-mobility sector.

Commending the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, for initiating the programme, Oyewole said the initiative would go a long way in creating wealth and expanding economic opportunities for Nigerian women entrepreneurs.

According to her, the programme aligns with BWI-RHA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance women’s financial independence, strengthen their businesses and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities.

She further announced that, in line with the organisation’s women empowerment agenda, BWI-RHA had established its Cooperative Society, with registration of members currently ongoing.

Oyewole therefore encouraged women entrepreneurs to take advantage of the cooperative platform, stressing that participation would provide an avenue for women to strengthen and grow their small and medium-scale businesses.

She said BWI-RHA remained committed to initiatives that would empower women to become economically independent and active contributors to Nigeria’s sustainable development.

Earlier, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim, who was represented at the event by her Senior Adviser, Technical and Community Engagement, Dr. Jummai Idonije, urged prospective beneficiaries of the e-mobility programme to make judicious use of the electric tricycles provided to them.

Idonije advised the beneficiaries not to sell the tricycles but to use them as productive assets for income generation and improved economic wellbeing.

The National E-Mobility Programme is expected to provide Nigerian women with access to sustainable transportation assets while opening up new avenues for entrepreneurship, income generation and economic participation.
