Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, urging Nigerians to support his administration and give him a second term to complete his programmes.
Kosoko made the appeal during an interview on Talk To B, a podcast hosted by actress Biola Adebayo, where he acknowledged the economic hardship facing Nigerians but maintained that the president was working to address longstanding challenges inherited from previous administrations.
The actor, a known supporter of Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), blamed years of inadequate economic planning and failure to prepare for Nigeria’s growing population for some of the country’s present difficulties.
He also defended the removal of the petrol subsidy, arguing that the policy was necessary to redirect government resources towards other developmental priorities.
Kosoko cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as an example of government intervention capable of easing the financial burden on families, particularly those struggling to pay their children’s school fees.
While acknowledging that Nigerians were experiencing genuine hardship, he urged citizens to exercise patience and consider the long-term objectives of the reforms.
He also called on beneficiaries of government programmes to share their experiences to help Nigerians understand the impact of the administration’s policies.
On the 2027 presidential election, Kosoko urged Nigerians to re-elect Tinubu, arguing that the president should be allowed to complete the reform agenda he had initiated.
“Let’s allow the man to finish his job,” he said, expressing confidence that the administration would eventually address the country’s challenges.
He further urged Nigerians to cooperate with the government, stressing that difficult decisions were necessary to tackle longstanding economic problems and secure a better future for generations to come.
