Alliance urges sustained dialogue, cooperation and political inclusion ahead of 2027

The South East Elders and Youths Alliance for Tinubu (SEEYAT ’27) has called for sustained and constructive engagement between the South-East and the Federal Government, describing dialogue and cooperation as important pathways to advancing the region’s interests within Nigeria’s political and development framework.

The alliance made the call while reacting to the efforts of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, to strengthen the working relationship between the state and the Federal Government.

According to SEEYAT ’27, a more collaborative relationship between the South-East and the government at the centre could create greater opportunities for development, investment, infrastructure, employment and improved welfare for the people of the region.

The group said its position was based on the conviction that meaningful political engagement would provide the South-East with greater opportunities to participate in national decision-making and influence policies affecting its people.

SEEYAT ’27 also referenced the political legacy of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, noting that the former nationalist leader was a strong advocate of active Igbo participation in national politics and governance.

The alliance maintained that continued participation in Nigeria’s political and governance processes remained important to ensuring that the aspirations and concerns of the South-East were effectively represented at the national level.

It described Governor Soludo’s approach to engagement with the Federal Government as an opportunity to deepen dialogue, cooperation and partnership between Anambra State and the Federal Government.

The group further expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Anambra State Government, community leaders, youth organisations and other stakeholders to promote greater South-East participation in national affairs.

According to the alliance, stronger engagement across political, economic and institutional platforms could help create a more inclusive environment for the region while strengthening its contribution to national development.

The group said the importance of such engagement would become even more pronounced as political parties, civic organisations and other stakeholders begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

SEEYAT ’27 therefore urged South-East stakeholders to pursue constructive engagement, broaden political participation and explore areas of cooperation capable of advancing the interests of the region within the wider Nigerian federation.

The alliance said it would continue to support initiatives promoting inclusion, cooperation, national unity and meaningful participation of the South-East in Nigeria’s political and development processes.
