President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments across 10 federal government agencies and commissions in a move aimed at strengthening governance, accelerating institutional reforms, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
Among the notable appointments is former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who has been named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will serve alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The board is completed by the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed.
The President also reconstituted the National Salary and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman. Former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the Commission. Other appointees include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo, and Kaduna States respectively, while Dr. Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh, and Bello Morenike Iyabode were appointed members.
In another key development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
President Tinubu further appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Also appointed is Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, who takes over as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
The President also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, naming Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Additionally, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) earlier this year.
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, President Tinubu approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja. An economist, legal scholar, and academic, Iorja currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, all the appointments take immediate effect. The appointments are expected to reinforce the administration’s commitment to effective governance, institutional efficiency, economic development, and improved public service delivery across the country.
