Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving three major federal institutions for Borno State within just three years of his administration.

Governor Zulum gave the commendation on Sunday in Bama shortly after a sympathy visit to residents affected by a devastating windstorm that destroyed homes and public infrastructure in parts of the town last week.

The Governor noted that since President Tinubu assumed office, the Federal Government has approved the establishment and take-off of three strategic institutions in Borno State: the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, and the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama.

According to Zulum, the institutions will play a transformative role in rebuilding communities affected by insurgency through expanded access to quality education, specialised healthcare services, employment opportunities, and economic growth.
“I want to draw your attention to the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama, by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, just two days ago,” Zulum stated.

“The pioneer principal officers have already been appointed. This is a remarkable achievement, and we sincerely commend the President for this important intervention.”

He further observed that the successful take-off of the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, was also made possible under President Tinubu’s administration.
“These institutions are critical to the recovery, stabilisation, and long-term development of Borno State. They will accelerate post-insurgency reconstruction, improve human capital development, and stimulate economic revitalisation across the state,” the Governor added.

Zulum assured President Tinubu of the appreciation and support of the people of Borno State for what he described as the President’s sustained commitment to the state’s recovery and development agenda.
“Therefore, I want to commend him and assure him that the people of Borno State will reciprocate this kind gesture at the appropriate time,” he said.

The Governor recalled that his administration had earlier handed over the Umar Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi College of Education, Science and Technology for the immediate commencement of academic activities of the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama. He also approved the release of N1 billion to support the university’s immediate take-off.

Zulum further highlighted his administration’s continued support for federal institutions in the state, including interventions exceeding N5 billion to facilitate the smooth take-off of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno, the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare.

As part of his visit to Bama, the Governor also inspected the ongoing construction of the headquarters of the 19 Brigade, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to consolidating security gains, strengthening military operations, and restoring full civil authority across the Bama axis and surrounding communities.
