Borno:Bomb Blast Kills Scores of People in Maiduguri

Terrorists have atracked  Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital killing and injuring scores of people.

Multiple explosions were said to have occurred around 7:20pm on Monday, March 16, 2026.

According to reports, at least 23 people were killed, and 108 others were injured.

Reports indicate that suspected Boko Haram/Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants planted improvised explosive devices (EDs) or committed suicide-bombing attacks at three separate locations, including the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and at two local markets, known as Post Office and Monday Market.

Explosions were also reported at an unspecified location in the Kaleri neighborhood and near the Elkanemi Warriors Stadium.

Officials indicate that normal activity has resumed in the affected areas; however, security presence has been significantly increased across Maiduguri and surrounding districts as investigations continue.
