The Coalition of Renewed Hope has commended the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its support for Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, amid the political contest surrounding his ambition to represent Imo West Senatorial District in the Senate in 2027.
The coalition described the APC leadership’s position as a demonstration of party loyalty, internal democracy and commitment to protecting the interests of its members.
In a press statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo, and National Secretary, Comrade Jamilu Maikano, on Friday, October 30, 2026, the group said Governor Uzodimma had remained a loyal party member, an experienced administrator and a key supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the South-East.
It maintained that the governor’s political experience, leadership capacity and contributions to national politics positioned him as a strong candidate for the Imo West senatorial seat.
The coalition also highlighted what it described as Uzodimma’s achievements in infrastructure development, security, workers’ welfare and youth empowerment, arguing that his experience would be valuable in providing effective representation for the district.
Calling on APC leaders, party members and residents of Imo West to support the governor’s ambition, the group said the contest went beyond an individual’s political aspiration, describing it as an important moment for the future of Imo West and the South-East.
The coalition also expressed concern over what it described as attempts by political opponents to frustrate the governor’s ambition through prolonged court cases and negative media campaigns.
It urged those allegedly involved in such activities to desist, insisting that political disagreements should not be allowed to undermine the party’s internal democratic process.
Reaffirming its confidence in Uzodimma’s political prospects, the coalition expressed optimism that the support of the APC national leadership, President Tinubu and the electorate would strengthen his chances of securing the senatorial seat in 2027.
It said it remained committed to mobilising support for the governor, whom it believes has the experience and political reach to provide quality representation for Imo West in the National Assembly.
