The Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda (BWI-RHA) has inaugurated its Niger State executives and coordinators for the state’s 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs), with a call on members to translate the organisation’s vision into tangible programmes that promote women’s empowerment and development.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Women Centre in Minna, brought together government representatives, women leaders and other stakeholders who highlighted the importance of unity, political participation, entrepreneurship and collective action in advancing women’s interests across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Niger State Coordinator of BWI-RHA, Mary Noel Barje, said the association was established to create greater opportunities for women to participate in politics, strengthen their businesses and contribute meaningfully to socioeconomic development.
She urged members to demonstrate commitment to the organisation’s ideals and serve as worthy ambassadors in their respective communities and professional engagements.
Barje emphasised the need for members to work together towards achieving the association’s objectives, noting that women’s active participation in leadership and enterprise development was essential to expanding their opportunities and influence in society.
In separate remarks, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Faruq Umar Audi, and Hadiza Sharu, who represented the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, charged the newly inaugurated officials to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication.
They encouraged the leaders to prioritise the welfare of women, promote inclusive development and ensure that the association’s activities deliver meaningful benefits to women across Niger State.
Other speakers, including members of the newly inaugurated executive council, underscored the importance of unity, teamwork and increased female representation in politics and decision-making.
They called on members to support one another, build stronger networks and pursue initiatives that would enhance women’s economic independence and participation in public affairs.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the oath of office to the 15-member state executive council by the Magistrate and Director of the Child Rights Act, Barrister Ummu-Kattum Muhammad.
The inauguration formally ushered the officials into their respective responsibilities and established a leadership structure to coordinate the association’s activities across the state.
With the inauguration of the state executives and 25 LGA coordinators, BWI-RHA is positioned to strengthen its grassroots presence and mobilise women towards greater participation in entrepreneurship, leadership and community development.
